Advice to my perfectionist self

In 2019, I decided to embark on the journey of learning about programming and technology. I have always had a great love for computers, technology and making stuff but could never get myself to get up and do the work.

These are the things I want to tell my past self about that I know now:

Do the proper research before getting started

I know people always assume once you hear about coding, you are thinking web technologies but the technology space is so fun of promising and innovating the world today.

If you want to get started in the tech space, make sure to make the appropriate research and ask the right questions before getting started. I know sometimes the excitement can get the better of you to just get started but appropriate research will save you frustration and pain in your journey

Try it all at first, then choose what you enjoy

I know it sounds contradicting to my previous statement but the truth is you can choose to start a career in web development because people in your circle are more accustomed to that path. There is nothing wrong with that but if you are also fascinated by how mobiles work, you can check it out and see if it is a better fit for you and your skill sets.

Try out as many tech spaces as you can when you get started and find one that matches both your enjoy and your skill set. It is easy to get lost in the need for a quick win and getting into the big boys table but don't rush cause nobody is in a competition with you except yourself

Don't Rush

You are your own competition. There is nobody who can run your race better than you. You have to learn to enjoy and love your learning.

You are not going to be an expert in a day or month. Because you hear about people's quick transition into tech like How I got into tech in 3 months. Those stories are true but that doesn't make you less of a developer if you get your first job after one year of learning.

Nobody is better than another because of his learning time frame. So have fun, enjoy your learning journey and take your time.

You are one of a kind and you are absolutely awesome.
